The Top 3 Most Common Instagram Mistakes

Number One: Links That Don’t Work

Unfortunately, the only place on Instagram at the moment where you can share a working link that takes followers to your website or some other page is in the profile (bio) or by use of a button on a sponsored post. All other links, for example ones posted in a caption, require followers to make separate note or cut-and-paste the information which can reduce the overall user experience. If you are trying to direct your followers to specific page, be sure to change the web link in your bio and direct users to it in the caption.

Number Two: Unrelated or Off-script Posts

Posts that are overly personal or unrelated to the brand alienate followers and turn them off. These types of posts don’t reflect well and can confuse or dilute the impact of your brand on social media. Finding a way to incorporate otherwise random pictures will make your social media marketing much more successful.

Number three: Unresponsiveness

You may feel swamped with all the other tasks you have to do during the day however not responding to likes and comments on your your feed is a modern day social media etiquette no-no. Taking the time to respond to customers’ queries on Instagram or other social media platforms may seem to be the least of your worries, but these small courtesies can actually have a huge impact on your customer relationships. Interacting with customers and followers in this way shows that you’re paying attention to them and that you care and appreciate their feedback. Your customers and followers will be more likely to continue to follow and interact with your brand if you don’t ignore them.

These common mistakes can all have a negative impact on your business but are also easily corrected. We can help to monitor and run your social media accounts and can be as much or as little involved in the planning of the implementation of these campaigns as you need.
